Reflection #2:
- What is the main role you have in your family system?
- What boundaries do you have or wish you had?
- What movies or TV shows impacted you as a child?
- How did they influence your social norms and values?
- How does the impact of chores impact or not impact your household?
- Finally, of the four theorists mentioned in Chapter 1 (Freud, Piaget, Erikson, and Vygotsky), which theorist's ideas about development most closely match your own beliefs about how people develop and why?
The main role I have in my family system is the homemaker and caring for the children role. I wish I had a more dominant and not so passive way in some situations so my children would actually take me seriously. I loved Full House as a kid. I would always pretend I was in their family because their sisters mostly got along unlike my sisters and me. I would sometimes act like how they would and hope for the same outcome but it would rarely ever go like how it did on that show because of course, that wasn't reality. Chores are a big deal in our house with my boys. I didn't have any growing up so I'm just more relaxed with it but when my husband is home, he doesn't let them play until chores are done. Finally, my own beliefs line up with Erik Erikson in the fact that he believes personalities are never complete and that they can develop over time. I agree with this because I am not the same shy child I once was. I am more outgoing and don't let people push me around or talk over me like they used to.
Thanks for your post Jamie.
